  • How to Clean and Maintain Your Resilient Floor
How to Clean and Maintain Your Resilient Floor
What is a resilient floor?   As defined by the Resilient Floors Institute (RFCI): Resilient flooring is defined as "a non-woven flooring that is resilient to the touch and has the property of recovering from repeated compression."   Unlike cement-based surfaces such as polished concrete, terrazzo, dry-shake concrete floor, ceramic tile, and stone floors, it appears to be elastic, but it's nothing to do with  "bounce" actually. It is very popular in education, healthcare, logistics warehousing and transportation industries since it can prevent deep slippery injuries when people fall compared to hard floor surfaces.   From the material point of view, the elastic floor is divided into homogeneous structure and heterogeneous structures. Homogeneous means that the resilient floor is a single layer of material from top to bottom, such as rubber floor, VCT (Vinyl Ceramic Tile), Cork and heterogeneous refers to a flooring structure with layers (multi-layers), typically each layer of products has a separate chemical reaction, such as LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile with rich decorative patterns).   What types of resilient surfaces are there? For example: · PVC · Linoleum · Rubber floor · Vinyl floors such as VCT and LVT · Epoxy resin floor   What are the characteristics of resilient floors? Resilient floors such as PVC and epoxy resin floors have the characteristics of elasticity, safety, acid and alkali resistance, wear resistance, pressure resistance, impact resistance, mildew resistance, waterproof, dustproof, easy maintenance and cleaning, etc., so they are widely used in commercial scenarios Medical and health industries such as hospitals, nursing homes, educational institutions such as schools, property communities, transportation institutions such as airports, trains, and industrial scenes such as pharmaceutical factories, electronics factories, warehousing and logistics industries, etc.     What are common maintenance challenges and solutions for resilient floors?   The most popular resilient floor in Europe is PVC, Linoleum and Rubber floor but in North America, it should be VCT and LVT. Taking the PVC floor as an example, the main cleaning and maintenance challenges are:   1. The floor stripping works as usual rely too much on the floor stripper chemical agent, which is costly, has an terrible smell, is harmful to the human body, and requires high experience and skills of the operators. It relies too much on labor, and if the floor wax removal water is not completely removed then it will bring out the secondary damage, resulting in color spots and other problems. 2. The floor is severely worn due to the flow of people, there are many scratches on the ground, and the wax surface is seriously worn out. 3. The daily cleaning of the floor is difficult to continue, and there is a lack of scientific overall solutions and standards.     For the application of flo...
  • Kick off the scratches and hard stains now
Kick off the scratches and hard stains now
If you can maintain your floor in a regular right way, the heavy stains and deep scratches can be avoided. When we talk about deep cleaning, it means taking your time and lots of money. So we'd suggest you make a scientific floor care solution and plan to save your time and expenditure in the long-term run.   Deep cleaning usually happens with these problems, 1. Deep scratches 2. Oil residues 3. Sticking drink residues 4. Black tire marks   In this case, the daily cleaning solution can't help out.   So how to choose the right cleaning machines and consumables? Step 1 Look at your Floor Type Step 2 Know the area to be cleaned Step 3 Identify the stains problems Step 4 Choose the right machines and consumables   For example, if the problems happened on hard floors like polished concrete floors, terrazzo floors, or stone floors,   For the small area,   we recommend the single disc machine with wights like TF-1517P, with 174 RPM and heavy brush pressure, you will easily remove the hard scratches. Besides, TF-1517S, the square floor orbital machine is another good option, with 1740 oscillating times/minute, you can very fast remove the stains or scratches to deliver a clean surface. And TF-1517S can well clean the corner along the side so you don't need people to clean them again compared with a single disc machine.   If it's only oil or drinks residues, you can use hard brushes (PP Diameter 0.6mm) to clean the floor. But if it's scratched, we will recommend deep-cleaning diamond pads.    Option 1 TF-1517P  + Hard Brushes or Deep-cleaning Black Floor Pad or Diamond Floor Pad + Floor Cleaner  Cleaning routes: 6-8 passes with water, wet use Option 2  TF-1517S + Deep-cleaning Black Floor Pad or Diamond Floor Pad + Floor Cleaner  Cleaning routes: 6-8 passes with water, wet use   For big areas, T150, the ride-on auto floor scrubber machine, is good for deep cleaning cases. With a 150L solution tank and 170L recovery tank, they can consistently clean the floor for 4 to 6.5 hours. With 220RPM and 25-85KG brush pressure, it can effectively clean your surface. You can choose roller brushes, disc brushes or pad holders with pads to complete the job.   Option 1  T150 + Hard Brushes (Disc Brush PP 0.6mm) or Deep-cleaning Black Floor Pad or Diamond Floor Pad + Floor Cleaner  Cleaning routes: 8-10 passes with water, wet use Option 2 T150 + Hard Brushes (Roller Brush PBT) + Floor Cleaner Cleaning routes: 8-10 passes with water, wet use   If it's resilient floors like PVC, VCT, Linoleum, and epoxy resin floors, we don't recommend aggressive hard brushes such as the material PP 0.6mm and PBT.  But you can still using the black deep cleaning pads and diamond floor pads.   Besides, if the you want to deep clean the ceramic tile floors,    For small areas, we recommend  TF-1517P or TF-1517S + Melamine Pad + Floor Cleaner Cleaning routes: 6-8 p...
  • What should you do to well maintain your concrete floor
What should you do to well maintain your concrete floor
Welcome to our blog, where we dive into the world of concrete flooring. Often associated with industrial settings, concrete floors including polished concrete, terrazzo floors and dry-shake concrete floors have become increasingly popular in residential and commercial spaces due to their durability, aesthetic appeal, and easy maintenance. In this guide, we'll explore the materials used in concrete flooring, the different types available, their unique features, common cleaning and maintenance problems, and effective methods to keep your concrete floor looking its best.     What Is Concrete Flooring Concrete flooring refers to a solid, durable, and versatile flooring option made from a combination of cement, aggregates (such as sand or gravel), and water.    The Popular Types of Concrete Floor 1. Polished Concrete: Achieved by grinding and polishing the surface to create a glossy finish, polished concrete is highly durable and showcases the natural beauty of the concrete.  2. Terrazzo Floor: It’s a composite material and consists of different kinds of aggregates like chips of marble, quartz, granite, glass, or other suitable material, poured with a cementitious binder (for chemical binding), polymeric (for physical binding), or a combination of both.    Features of Concrete Flooring 1. Durability: Concrete floors can withstand heavy foot traffic, making them ideal for high-traffic areas such as retail stores, offices, and garages. 2. Versatility: Concrete can be customized with various colors, stains, textures, and patterns, allowing for endless design possibilities. 3. Low Maintenance: Concrete floors are relatively easy to maintain, requiring regular cleaning and occasional resealing to preserve their appearance and protect against stains.     The Common Floor Cleaning and Maintenance Problems 1. Stains and chemical liquid residues: Concrete floors are susceptible to stains from spills like oil, grease, or acidic substances. If left untreated, these stains can become stubborn and difficult to remove, for example, the oil residues, drinks residues and black tire marks. 2. Scratches and Scuffs: Heavy wheels or dragging sharp objects can leave scratches or scuffs on the concrete surface, affecting its aesthetic appeal.  Solution For these two cases, you better renovate and deep clean the floor.   If it’s a big area,  you can choose the powerful ride-on auto floor scrubber dryer machine like our T150 Pro, up to 85KG pressure on the disc brush, 650 RPM for the roller brush and 220 RPM for the disc brush, the deep cleaning job can be easily taken over. You can choose aggressive deep cleaning floor pads including diamond polishing pads or PBT roller brushes and floor cleaners to remove the stains. We recommend you to drive them slowly to deep clean the stained part. • How to remove the old coatings and clean the floor
How to remove the old coatings and clean the floor
What's floor heavy-duty stripping  Floor stripping usually indicates your floor meets really hard stains, scratches or old coatings, which is more heavy-duty than deep cleaning works. Every year, in most hospitals-healthcare or schools-education, they need to remove the old PU or other protective coatings and put on new coating layers. As usual, it will happen on resilient floors, we also call them coated floors, for example, the Linoleum, PVC, VCT, LVT, and epoxy resin floor, need to put on coatings to protect the people using them. If you want to learn more about resilient floors, welcome to read our blog "how to clean and maintain your resilient floor".   But some hard floors like polished concrete, terrazzo floor or stone floors, they also impregnate floor coatings to give the floor a wet-finish gloss look. When you need to renew the floor, the top action should be stripping them out.      What kind of machine do you need The popular floor care machines for floor stripping should be the heavy-duty floor buffer machine and the square orbital/oscillating machine. For the floor buffer/polisher machine, you need the extra weights to increase the pressure, with a low-speed rotation like 150-300 RPM, it can quickly remove the old coating layers from the floor. In TVX, you can choose TF1517P to help you complete the job.   For the orbital or oscillating machines, they have single round disc or square oscillating head, and the square can effectively clean the edge and corner zone, with extremely high oscillating speed per minute like 3000 times/min, it's easy to take off the old coatings or remove scratches. In TVX, our TF-1517S can help you quickly finish it.                                                                            *The left side is after stripping and the right side is after re-coating   What kind of pads or chemicals do you need Depends on what kind of machine you're using, if you're using a heavy-duty single disc machine, probably you need floor stripper chemicals to work the black floor pads or some special floor stripper pad like 3M SPP. Now you can also try diamond floor pads, if the coating layer is not thick, you can use diamond pads of around 200 grits and in this case, you can save costs of chemicals and use water only, we have a blog to introduce you how to choose the right floor cleaning pads, please learn the blog "One blog to know how to choose the right floor pads, brushes or squeegees".   For square floor orbital machine, the best option is diamond floor pads with water only, no floor stripper chemicals are needed. And for operation, the orbital machine is easy to operate so we also recommend this solution.     Operation Advice 1. If you use floor stripper chemicals, be careful to...
  • How to choose the right floor cleaning machine
How to choose the right floor cleaning machine
Appropriate cleaning routine and schedule can keep the floor clean and shiny. No matter with the industrial or commercial venues, they all need regular daily cleaning to remove stains, residues, small scratches and other contaminations, in this way, to keep hygiene, clean and safe.    How to choose the right floor cleaning machine With the rising costs of labor and shortage of cleaners, manual cleaning will be gradually replaced by mechanical cleaning way. When you want to find the appropriate floor cleaning machine, you should follow part of our instructions in the blog "How to make your right floor care and maintenance solution", we advise you    1. Identify your scenario and venues to be cleaned, how big are they and how many square meters you need to clean every day. Sometimes if it's the office or canteen, definitely, you only need a small and compact flexible walk-behind floor scrubber machine. But when it's a large factory, it's better to clean with a ride-on floor scrubbing machine. However, even in the same one scenario like an airport, you may meet both small areas and big spaces so you should combine two different situations to look for your solutions.   2. Make sure what kind of stains you need to clean.  Why? Most solid rubbish like paper debris, wood pellets, food residues, leaves... should be picked up by the floor sweeper machine or floor scrubber with cylindrical brushes before scrubbing the floor. If you usually meet tire marks, chemical residues, footprints or sewage, the floor scrubber machine can do you a great favor.   3. What's your budget It's the most crucial question before making final decision. Budget doesn't only mean how much you will cost for a machine, that's all, definitely no, budget means how much you're willing to pay for the machine, for the training, for the after-service, for the solution consultation, for the entire service term since you have the machine.     In TVX, the local partner should be powerful with a professional engineering team to take care of our customers.
